A&A Doctoral student Hiromi Yasuda and his advisor, Professor JK Yang, have been awarded the Hangai Prize, which is given for the best paper submitted to the International Association for Shell and Spatial Structures (IASS) Conference. Their paper, titled, "Tunable frequency band structure of origami-based mechanical metamaterials" was selected from among world-wide submissions. They will be awarded the Hangai Prize Medal and Diploma at the IASS 2017 Symposium in Hamburg Germany in September 2017.
