Scholarships & Financial Aid for Undergraduates

The College of Engineering and the A&A department offer a limited number of scholarships and awards each year. Most scholarships and awards have different qualification criteria.  Three common types of scholarships are achievement based, need based, and special criteria (such as specific areas of interest or involvement usually specified by a particular donor).

College of Engineering Scholarships

Student Academic Services awards a variety of scholarships throughout the year. Applications are accepted throughout the year, and remain active until the following January. To be considered for the most scholarship opportunities, submit your application by the priority submission date, January 15.

Financial Aid

If you wish to be considered for any scholarship which considers need a criteria, you must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid application (FAFSA) to the Financial Aid Office.  You may pick up paper copies of the form at the Financial Aid Office, 105 Schmitz Hall, (206)543-6101. The College Scholarship Service evaluates your need on a nationally uniform basis, and returns your need index to the University. Both the College and the department will use this report to determine eligibility for scholarships when need is a factor.  All other information must be supplied on the College Application Form.

American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA)

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) also funds a scholarship program for students ranking from freshmen to seniors.  Application must be made directly to the AIAA by January 1.  Applicants must be student members of the AIAA (U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required).  Applications can be requested from the AIAA Undergraduate Scholarship Program, 1801 Alexander Bell Dr., Reston, VA 20191-4344, 1-800-639-2422 ext. 536.  Application and information about AIAA scholarships. Membership applications for AIAA are available in the A&A office.

Department of Aeronautics & Astronautics Scholarships & Awards
