Academic Programs

The Department of Aeronautics & Astronautics offers both graduate and undergraduate degrees. Our rigorous undergraduate program awards a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering. The degree follows the specific requirements of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), under a program of engineering science with emphasis on design, development, and integration of vehicles operating within the atmosphere or in space. The department's graduate offerings include Master of Science and Master of Aerospace Engineering programs, designed to provide graduates with a high level of technical competence for professional engineering careers, as well as a Ph.D. track, which primarily trains engineers for careers in research and higher education.

The department's programs cover all of the traditional branches of aeronautics and astronautics, but they also extend into the interdisciplinary areas where you'll find many of today's biggest challenges. This means that our programs stay at the forefront of current research, ensuring our graduates maintain contact with the future. While the impact of aircraft and space vehicles on our society is obvious and pervasive, the engineering sciences associated with the aerospace industry have even wider applications.
