Financial Aid
The College of Engineering and the Department offer a limited number of scholarships and awards each year. Most scholarships and awards have different criteria in which one can qualify. Three common types are:Achievement scholarships, which are awarded on the basis of achievement or potential,
Need, based on the outcome of results of the evaluation of your Financial Aid form (FAF),
Special criteria, specific areas of interest or involvement usually specified by a particular donor.
ELIGIBILITY
COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIPS
To be eligible for these scholarships, you must complete a College of Engineering Scholarship Application Form and submit it to the College. The deadline for application is April 1. Application forms are available from the College of Engineering Advising Center, 301 Loew Hall, Box 352180, Seattle, WA 98195-2180, or you may telephone 206-543-1770. Forms are also available from the Aeronautics and Astronautics office located in 206 Guggenheim Hall.If you wish to be considered for any scholarship that considers need as one of the criteria, you must file the same College Application form with the College, and you must complete a College Scholarship Service (CSS) Financial Aid Profile, which is sent to the College Scholarship Service in California for evaluation. You may pick up the forms at the Financial Aid Office, 105 Schmitz Hall; phone number 543-6101 or complete the on-line application. The College Scholarship Service evaluates your need on a nationally uniform basis. All other information must be supplied on the College Application Form.
AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF AERONAUTICS AND ASTRONAUTICS (AIAA)
The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) also funds a scholarship program for students ranking from entering freshmen to seniors. Application must be made directly to the AIAA by January 1. Applications can be requested from AIAA Undergraduate Scholarship Program, 1801 Alexander Bell Dr., Reston, VA 20191-4344, 1-800-639-2422. If you need more details ask for extension 536.Applicants must be student members of the AIAA. Membership applications for AIAA are available at their website: http://www.aiaa.org.
