Graduate Studies Application Procedure

Master's and PhD Applications (Regular Status)

The application process consists of several steps.  Our department will require certain items, and the Graduate Admissions Office will require others.

The following items must be submitted to the Graduate School:

  1. Online Graduate School Application and payment of application fee.
  2. GRE scores will be submitted electronically (the UW Institution Code, for reporting purposes, is: 4854).
  3. International Students Only:
    Submit scores for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), or an equivalent exam approved by the Graduate School. For more information, contact the University’s Office of Educational Assessment or the Educational Testing Service.

The following item should be mailed to our department:

  • One copy of official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended, mailed to:

The following items should be uploaded to the online application:

  • Two letters of recommendation.
  • Statement of Objectives.
  • Resume (optional).
  • Financial Assistantship Application (if appropriate): Assistantship Application Form.

Deadlines

The Department of Aeronautics & Astronautics accepts applications for autumn quarter admission only. Application materials for regular status (full-time and part-time, on-campus) must be submitted by January 1st of the application year for autumn quarter.

The online (EDGE) deadline is later than the department deadline. It is:

  • Autumn Quarter - July 1st of application year

The deadlines for Graduate Non-matriculated (GNM) applications (either on-campus or online) are as follows:

  • Autumn Quarter - August 1st of application year
  • Winter Quarter – November 1st of previous year
  • Spring Quarter -February 1st of application year
