Outreach

Whether you are a student just finishing high school, a prospective graduate student, or an entire middle school class, visitors to our department are always welcome! Guided tours can be arranged for small or large groups, and if you call ahead to make arrangements, we'd be happy to show you around.

We have many research labs, the Kirsten Wind Tunnel included, along with student research projects and facilities. Take a look at our research facilites for more information on what you might be interested in learning more about.

During the year there are events in which people from outside the department have the opportunity to meet us in person. Never hesitate to ask, for most all departmental activities are open to the public and visitors are encouraged to stop by and look in on us! Some of the events include:

Resources for Teachers

Aside from departmental tours, many of our students are also active in community projects outside the UW campus and will gladly assist in engineering/science related projects to promote their discipline among the rest of the population. Many faculty and students will volunteer to come to your class and give a guest lecture on the many topics of Aeronautics and Astronautics. If you are interested in having somebody visit your class, please contact Marlo, our outreach coordinator at marlo@aa.washington.edu, or 206-543-1950 to make arrangements.

If you are a prospective graduate student and would like information on a specific lab or research activity, we also encourage you to contact the associated faculty through our research pages. After you review the faculty and research facilities, you may also email the Graduate Program Manager, Wanda Frederick wanda@aa.washington.edu, for further information on departmental visits.
